The Number 23 (2007)

Date watched: February 23

Review: A tale of a man's obsession, an obsession that has many mysteries behind it. The acting was pretty nifty, and the story started off with many great possibilities. About halfway through the movie, the movie did one of those horrible belly flops right into the water. The pace doesn't change dramatically, but the reasons behind the events start to unfold, and this movie becomes just another Hollyweird movie with barely a possibility to redeem itself. And of course, it didn't redeem. Jim Carrey being in the movie actually almost saved the movie. He added comedic elements to what became a tragic comedy because of the lameness of the climax. Laughing at what is going on in the movie is essential, but not because it is funny, though it did have it's hilarious moments which were meant to be funny.
